If you have some money in this company I can understand you being upset, otherwise I don't understand it, all the shorts in the world won't keep a good company down, likewise even if everyone says what a great company is, if they don't perform they will not do well...
Short term I can see shorts hurting a company if they are trying to issue more equity, otherwise who cares? Its a buying opportunity..

If I am not mistaken Value Line and Calpers have underperformed their benchmarks for several years running. Now if I see Michael Price buying...

I don't think I would use CAL pension fund as any kind of positive benchmark. As I recall they have made some notoriously bad calls in the past.
