Maybe, maybe not. I'm just guessing at a possible explanation. (Ring Ring) Bill: Hello. Andy: Bill, this is Andy. Bill: Oh hi Andy. Uh you're probably calling about that fifty bucks I still owe you for lunch last month? I can explain... Andy: No, that's not why I called. I wanted to talk to you about this whole thin client thing. You know I'm still a little mad at you for going ahead with Hydra. Once all those IT departments figure out that they no longer need a whiz-bang PC on their desktops to run MSOffice... Bill: Well its kind of inevitable. Our customers started wisening up and began demanding it. I feel your pain though Andy. I wish we could still convince people that they need something like a PII-333Mhz to run MSWord. We have good marketing people but they're not that good! Bill: Hahahahahaha. Andy: Hahahahahaha. Bill: You gotta go with the flow Andy. If you can't stop a trend, at least you can try and exert some control over it. Andy: Yeah ok. I guess I've come to that conclusion too. In fact I have some of our people hammering out a lean client reference platform. Boy I'm sure glad we got that StrongArm microprocessor in our portfolio thru the DEC deal. Its perfect for the application. The one thing that needs work right now is that we'd like some more control over how these thin clients are designed and built, you know, kind of like what we've done in PC's with our motherboard business. Unfortunately our development and manufacturing organizations are all tied up right now with all the new product releases: Deschutes, Merced, chipsets, motherboards. Time to market is also a concern with Hydra almost out. Bill: Hey you know there's small company called NCD. They're the ones that are manufacturing NCs for IBM. Why don't you talk to them about some sort of deal. Andy: Oh yeah, I've heard of them. And I think I've seen some of their people at the meetings for the lean client reference platform. I'll look into it. Maybe we could use them to build StrongARM based boxes for any of our customers that are looking to OEM WBTs. Bill: They got this shareholder's rights plan though. But they're a small company. You might be able to get a deal thru with just a Petty Cash form. What's a few hundred million, right Andy? Andy: Hahahahaha Bill: Hahahahaha
