>>>I won't give you my opinion since I sense from your last post that you are tiring of our debate.<<<

I simply agree with one of your previous comments that "we might as well be discussing politics or religion". This is becoming very philosophical in nature and we are just spinning our wheels here. I day trade as well as invest, so there is probably a huge difference in core views, already.

Your point of view regarding MA's is similar to my views on most TA. MA's are the only technical indicators that I have confidence in, and apply, because of their simplicity and the psychology behind them. Such methods as interpreting arcane shapes on a historical graph seem downright useless to me outside of hindsight (I've studied the theories behind them, but in application they plain suck, in my opinion).

Helios,

I have backtested CSCO and ASND with a moving average strategy:

Indicator: Dahl = 50day variable MA - 50day variable MA 15 days ago

CSCO (1/3/95: close 11.375, hope that is correct)
Data from 1/3/95-2/27/98
Buy/Hold: 473% gain
Dahl: 411 % gain (1 winning, 1 losing trade)

ASND
Data from 5/13/94-2/27/98
Buy/Hold: 1876%% gain
Dahl: 2439% % gain (2 winning, 2 losing trades)

Now you

Jurgen
