Scott, on April 1 of this year, many of the laws regulating what Japanese citizens can do with their money will be lifted as part of the vaunted "big bang." Today it is illegal for Japanese to own overseas accounts, but it no longer will be. Their postal savings system is the largest pool of capital in the world (at about $10 trillion). I'm betting that a very large deluge of money from Japan will enter US markets, most of it in Treasuries, shortly after that date.
