Greg, great civil response. If you had been one of the people on Yahoo you would had to have thrown in a few cuss words and personal attacks to get you point across. Even me, who has a 6 figure income wouldn't mind a NIC computer for the internet. Already there are many programs that I use that are in the "computer in the sky". By this I mean, I bank with Nations bank and use their on-line program, I am a Schwab 500 customer and do all of my trading on-line, I can also switch money from my bank to Schwab electronically through schwab which is pretty neat. "My Yahoo" page is also something that I use quite often. My point is, the NIC computer is going to be used something like the telephone in the future. You can be anywhere in the world and find a NIC computer and log into your favorite source and feel just like you were sitting at home. You don't need a hard drive, remember anything on the hard drive is not "real time". Everything that we use on the computer is going to a "real time" basis, either through intranets or 3rd party computer sources, yes even for computer games. As the speed of the internet increases and the speeds of chips increase this becomes even more plausible. Oh, and the NICs will all have a printer port so that you can print out anything you want. I am not predicting an inventory shortage but I have seen a few in my time. My point is that Dell is much more vulnerable with their model than companies like Compaq who have the channel stuffed with product. (don't worry I am not touting compaq). I happen to have many friends in the computer industry who are from Japan, and I am sorry to say, the Japs are coming with low prices computers. They are going to sell low priced computers just like they did VCR's and TV's. Thanks again for you response, you make some very valid points.
