I have followed CAER for a long time - 6 or 8 years. It was founded by the person or people who founded INTEL. I just got the 1997 annual report. They seem to be doing much better, but their report is certainly a bit misleading. On Page 2, the overview shows earnings were over $6,000,000 in 1997 (40 + cents per share)excluding a $3,000,000 write-off of bad technology that came with the Formonix acquisition. So, including the write-off, the earned 24 cents per share. Seems CAER has a knack for making acquisitions that never increase earnings immediately.
