"Prayer of St. Francis"

Lord make me an instrument of Thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon. Where there
is doubt, faith. Where there is despair,
hope. Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy. O Divine
Master; grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console; to be
understood as to understand; to be loved as
to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it
is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and
it is in dying that we are born to eternal
life.

Believe me, Susan. You never want to become religious. Religion is the system man sets up to appear that way. It has always managed to murder and eliminate the saints of history. And works hard now to figure out a way to do it again in the more civilized countries.

Religion actually, I do believe, is what satan sets in process to destroy the work of Jesus Christ.

And I just say that because it is true.

St. Francis lived only because Innocent the III issued a papal bull stating that no one could kill Francis while he was alive. But Innocent the III marched armies against the growing bands of Christians men like Francis were creating all over Europe.

Also, H. G. Wells history Vol. II says that immeditely after Francis' death poor Bernard, the rich socialite that started out with him was killed and many of the other brothers were imprisoned. The actual order itself continued now inside, very regulated and in nice black robes with daily hourly minutely rituals. I knew of the immediate change of the order upon Francis' death, but only H. G. Wells ever told me of the vengence upon the order members themselves that probably did not feel like going along with the new program. Whether or not this is true will take much digging. I will take Wells at his word--he is considered one of the greatest historians of our time, and also is a total and complete humanist and aetheist, so I'm sure it is true, and that he did not make it up for reasons unknown.

Even Teresa of Avila almost came under the Inquisition's hands in Spain--they just didn't like all of her personal experiences with the Lord in prayer. They began to think it must be satan, since they weren't having any experiences with the Lord at all, I'm quite sure.

Just ideas to keep in mind if you like the overview of things.

I don't think God wants us Religious.
If we become religious then we are utterly out of control.
The Father first just wants us to talk to Him as a caring Father.
It's a normal language and affection from our hearts .
From there THEN we can become what God wants......
.....and it ain't religious.

Now to complete the cycle.. It's great to talk to God.
But, He will talk to your spirit. You can hear Him easily
"if you aren't religious".
You also Hear Him better if you know His Word and you really want to obey His guidance....His guidance is never religious.
Religious is what the pharisees were...that's why they were so consumed with rules they couldn't see the Father when He came to
earth in the flesh as His Word and Son....Lord Jesus.

So, it begins by just talking to God all alone, then read is Word and listen...

God Bless.

Hi Susan,
The first step would be to accept God's redemption through His Son Jesus. This can be the beginning of getting closer to God. After that step the next one is to renew our minds with the word. Read the New Testament, study and meditate on it. What you don't understand pray about and wait on the answer. The Holt Spirit will teach you if you listen. And don't be deceived, everything must conform to the word. If it does not, then don't believe it. Pray and talk to Jesus and fellowship with Him. He is here and with you. He wants to hear from you and be a friend.

In Jesus,

Bob

PS I hope I answered your questions. If not I'd be glad to answer some more.

HUMILITY

Humility may be defined to be a habit of mind and heart corresponding to our comparative unworthiness and vileness before God, or a sense of our own comparative meanness in His sight, with the disposition to a behavior answerable thereto.

And a truly humble man is sensible of the small extent of his knowledge, and the great extent of his ignorance, and of the small extent of his understanding as compared with the understanding of God.
He is sensible of his weakness, how little his strength is, and how little he is able to do.

He is sensible of his natural distance from God, of his dependence on Him, of the insufficiency of his own power and wisdom; and that it is by God's power that he is upheld and provided for; and that he needs God's wisdom to lead and guide him, and his might to enable him to do what he ought to do for Him.

Jonathan Edwards
