>>>Now take Style Pts who both practices an ema strategy and likes the stock yet I gather from his posts that he did not manage to trade on those dates that you site.<<<

Actually, I had been day/position trading ASND (and CSCC before it) between 2/97 and 10/98 with great success. I had been using much shorter EMA trendline combinations (ex. 7,14,21), which I believe is much harder to time. I posted several of my trades on the ASND thread back then...before July I posted at the Fool. I recall my final trade on ASND was in October. It was my long-term holding in ASND that was getting hit hard at the time. I stopped trading ASND in October because I was concerned over my CYMI shares which were heavily margined and crashing (that's part of why I sold CSCO -- to raise my equity).

Remember when I shorted CSCO for a couple days (position trade) in late December? I used the same indicators there.

It depends a lot on the person and how he uses his techniques, but personally, my day trading timing is many times more accurate than my long-term timing.

>>>Not only that, I'll find a stock that would have made you money if you had followed the exact opposite strategy. i.e. buying when the 50 day ema breaks on the downside.<<<

Then that sounds like a stock which would be a great short, using the EMAs. The whole point is to find a stock which has a history of trending off of key trendline breakouts/crossovers. ASND is one of those stocks.

Style Pts.

Helios,
the discussion is somewhat pointless as long as you keep saying "i could show you if i really wanted..". Furthermore, this is about CSCO.
But i would love to see the stock that makes you money over a period of 5 years when you buy/sell crossing below/above 50 day MA. You would have a hard time to proof what you say.
But you never really intended to proof something, did you ?

regards
Jurgen
