Mo...I think that there is a lot of denial on this thread. CPQ is a sick stock and it's for reasons that I'm not yet aware of, but I think the recent downgrade may be only part of the problem. I agree with Satyr. The trend is down. Next stop 29. I hope I'm wrong, but I won't delude myself, either. Stephen...btw, I'm still long and not selling.

I just configured a CPQ and Dell 333 desktop in the identicle configurations and CPQ ($2399) was less than the Dell ($2441). Basically the price is too close to call for the home market. The point is the largest market is commercial and that market will not be served by a simple BTO web site. So who has the capacitity to serve that market? I have 24K shares saying CPQ does.

Looks as some attention may return to AMZN tomorrow. Very negative article in BARRON'S today. CPQ, will get a break. <G> CPQ actually makes very good money. AMZN makes none. Never has. Here comes the slide for them. Big competition, no profits, ridiculous pricing...the market always adjusts. Sometimes it takes a while. CPQ will be up very fast. This is indeed a buying opportunity for me. Also my first real chance to buy puts on AMZN that will pay off. <G>

Let's see now, analysts are screaming that the channels are stuffed with product, while Jan sales volume and $ are up, and retailers are yelling that there is insufficient volume. Is this not a classic "double bind"? CPQ and thinking investors are caught between too much volume in the channels and not enough. Sounds like crazy making demands to me.

Year-to-year January unit sales went up 90.7% and revenue went up 27.4%. You say you don't see a problem here. Does this mean that the average sales price declined by 1/3? Does this reflect Compaq's moves in the low price PC market? What has been Compaq's traditional year-to-year revenue growth rate? Isn't Dell's somewhere around 50%? Could that account for a major part of the difference in their P/E?
