Todd,

I think MF missed the biggest change in the Heads business. It did not highlight the fact that IBM is trying to get into the MR heads business. IBM sold nearly the same amount of MR heads in 4Q97 as ReadRite (a very impressive gain). IBM has more experience in and better technology MR heads. I see IBM selling more MR heads than ReadRite this year. I would wait and see on ReadRite and see if it can keep its customers, and see how committed IBM is in selling their MR heads.

Happy Investing

Todd, you seem to switch positions fairly easily.
From what I recall, from reading your posts:
1. You were long RDRT.
2. You were using a short position in APM to hedge your long RDRT.
3. You closed your short APM.
4. You reopened your short APM.
5. You were short RDRT (but I didn't see any mention of you closing your long RDRT.

6. Now you've bought a billion shares of RDRT because of the Motley Fool article.

So does this mean you're no longer short RDRT?

Does it mean you've cornered the market in RDRT shares by owning more shares than the company has outstanding?

Or is your current long position in RDRT a shadow, based on your association with Lawrence Kam?

A billion shares, have ye now? <g> Glad am I, then to be your friend <ggg>.

There is disturbing it is, that this writer, Louis, who writes often for them, will be throwing down little nuggets of pseudo-factoids with the ring of journalistic truth, when in fact as you say, he can not cite references when challenged. I am coming to believe the investing business is not for part timers, when even a full timer such as I am having a time of it keeping up.

And I am belately thanking you for sending me the list, a bit ago. There is a cur I am for not doing so earlier.

God bless,
PX
