SAN FRANCISCO (FFBN) -- President Bill Clinton told the
BancAmerica Robertson Stephens Technology ' 98 conference , "The next big
step in our country's economic transformation is the full development of
the Internet and the electronic commerce it makes possible."

The President gave Amazon.com Inc. as an example of a company
experiencing incredible growth on this medium.

Clinton said he supports the Internet Tax Freedom Act currently
before Congress. The bill would place a temporary moratorium on
taxation of online commerce.

"My balanced budget also includes $110 million to help develop
the next-generation Internet," said Clinton.

Clinton joked that he "pulled rank" over Vice President Al Gore
to speak at the technology conference. The President, like many of the
corporate presenters, gave out his web address to the audience:
