No, Wesley. This is important for you to understand.

ASND had BIG problems in RAS with 56K issues and TNT software glitches that would have aggravated their fall severely and delayed their recovery. RAS is still soft now until the new denser TNT with multimedia capabilities comes out in Q2 or Q3.

The recent rebound in ASND is primarily due to CSCC's prospects and recent contracts, such as the NTT, Williams and AT&T contracts.

ASND did fall to $22. Without CSCC, there is no doubt in my mind that they would have fallen to the teens and been slow to recover. No way would they be approaching $40 now without CSCC.

The same thing applies to MRVC's Fibronics and Xyplex acquisitions.
Believe me when I say that MRVC's prospects were significantly improved by Fibronics and will be improved again by the Xyplex acquisition.

One MRVC acquisition per year is fine with me.

Dear Wesley, (somewhat off topic) Sector is absolutely correct:
I have been a long term holder of Cascade Communications and Ascend Communications. Cascade ran out of significant growth selling their top-notch frame relay switches 14 months ago, and took a hit to its stock price. Ascend's Mory Ejabat saw that his growth in remote access switches was slowing and taking a hit from competition. So he bought Cascade. Today, Ascend is still growing slower in remote access, but Cascade has developed state of the art ATM switches for WANs. This product is and will produce HUGE growth for the combined companies, until Ascend comes out with its new and improved remote access switches, based on Cascade technology.
Ascend would definitely be in the teens without having purchased Cascade...a master stroke by Ejabat (for which he was roundly criticised by analysts, when the combined company missed 1 quarter.) IMHO wj
