One question:
You see no need to explore the psychology of "unabashed stock touts" -- Why?

I do not underestimate the ability of an individual to make a change. Considering the potential number of readers on the Internet one cannot discount ones ability to cause an effect. An eighth or quarter point stock price move may be motive for someone to try to adjust the thinking of others. Longer term effects may be more difficult.

I ponder Tonyt's motives but have trouble getting a good fix. On the surface he appears to be just having a good time.
