Speculation is that the C6 is being bought
by some who can't get AMD's K6 because of
their ramp difficulties....so the deal
between AMD & IBM will hurt IDTI down the
road about six months. This is just one
more reason why the next few months are
very important for the success of the
C6 & C6+.

I need some layman's help understanding the difference between "slot 1" and "socket 7." From what I can gather, this is technology that attaches the processor to the motherboard. It really does not change how the processor works, it only functions as a conduit for
sending instructions to other components of the PC.

Frankly, it does not appear that it is anywhere near as complicated to design as a processor. It would seem to me that someone could build an adapter that would allow a processor to attach to either "slot 1" or "socket 7." Then which ever way the market moved their technology could follow.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out.

Thanks,
Darrell Conrade
