Just speculation: I think that if Ligand had found a Lilly drug that they thought was worthwhile to take on, they would have hurried to lock it up and publicly announce it. Seems like they found a choice of "maybe"'s and "no way"'s. In that case the extra $$ and royalty % would look very good, but not be as newsworthy.

They will probably announce that as their choice Monday AM, and I doubt it will do anything to the stock price-though longer term it probably increases the value of the company.
