Hi Tom

On CNN Digital Jam, Dan Niles, the semiconductor analyst from BofA Robertson Stephens explained why he raised VLSI to a buy and cut estimates on TI. Said the "low point for the foreseeable future" on VLSI stock price was reached Friday. He also said the problems
were only temporary, and related to inventory cutbacks at Ericsson. Although he remained cautious on TI, Niles said for VLSI Friday was an opportunity to "buy as much stock as you want". He also met with VLSI management at the high tech conference in San Francisco last week.

I am an Electrical Engineer and work with products from
many companies. I also evaluate and recommend hardware
and software products for my company. Most of my investments
are in high tech stocks because I am very familiar with
these companies. I used to own VLSI a few years ago but sold
because their products and support just were not keeping pace
with their competition. LSI Logic has also has been weak lately
but I would rather own LSI Logic than VLSI. Lucent is really
starting to take market share from LSI and others.
