Bob commented again on the 4% rule today, as he has so many times over the years. He did say if you work for a company, and have a good inside view of its fundamentals, and they look good; that this was an exception. Under this scenario he was comfortable with 10-12%. As far as your friend, sounds like he (or she) was quite foolish with that all eggs in one basket approach with COMS instead of putting money down on the house. Just my opinion, but thats way too risky for this camper. Good luck.
