Premier- One thought on the current 1st Call numbers. Given the uncertainties at the company and changing loss estimates, no analyst could have felt comfortable coming up with revised numbers. It could be that these numbers are well recognized as being inadequate, but having very little basis for re-estimation. If this is correct, then a lot of this uncertainty could already be reflected in the price.

wrt Medicaid- I recollect seeing a post, I believe on this thread that commented that Oxford enrolled medicaid members into its "regular" individual program. If this is correct, that would make the program very costly. Medicaid generally has high utilization of benefits and not always the most efficient. The objective with medicaid HMO is a lot of handholding and re-education - both the physician and patient etc.- special programs. That is how the cost can be brought below the contracted rate. Please note, I don't know the specifics of Oxford's program.
