All of the 56K/v90 stuff could turn out to be just a flash in the
pan..you have to get ISPs to use them before they become of much
value to the end user. The ISPs I've talked with don't intend to
toss away the modems they are now using anytime real soon. More 56 flex in my area than x2..in fact of the 56k the flex is only one in
use by a ISP in Brazoria county. Most are still running 36k modems,
my main man is hoping to jump from that to Wireless in one hop,
which will cut out the phone company ( his largest expense )
cost more for his phone lines than the T1 into the backbone.
And wireless will also give ISDN speeds. Wireless is the next big jump.
Who is really into that ?
