If this is old news, I apologize... In checking out information related to DCLK's IPO, I went to gaskinsco.com (at least I think I did--long afternoon, lapses in synapses, etc.) and pulled down this little competitive summary of Softbank. Can't put a date on the info. Further, there does seem to be some hype factor-- I can just see the froth coming from Mr. West's mouth. But, it is interesting... or not. ****** ******* ******* ÿÿÿSOFTBANK INTERACTIVE MARKETING ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ The SOFTBANK Network was launched on September 15, with 28 Web sites and 45 million available impressions. As of early January, 1998 the network had more than 106 million available impressions from 53 sites. ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿTed West, Executive Vice President and Softbank co-founder, said in an interview, "The SOFTBANK network recently signed leading-brand advertisers, which include AT&T, Disney, Fisher/Price, Microsoft, Sprint and Toshiba." ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ"In my view," he continued, "there will be two, three and maybe four branded firms with creditable affiliated web site networks, serving the second tier. We think of the first tier as the top 25 sites (in traffic). ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ"And the web traffic trend line is going our way. For a long time the top 25 sites got 90% of the ad dollars. The most recent figures show a decline to 80%. ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ"In terms of technology, we already think of ourselves as having better technology than DoubleClick and others. We have a series of banner and e-commerce technology that differentiates us, including technology developed by EchoMedia, a sister company also owned by ZULUtek (NETZ), the holding company which recently purchased a majority interest in Softbank Interactive Marketing," he concluded. ******* ******** ******** This will be my last post for at least a week. But, I'm aiming the office bulldog (our online media planner) at this whole Zulu Tek thing. BTW, having read more posts by the resident *turd in the punchbowl* (who shall remain nameless other than an obscure reference to UnterCrap,) I just don't get it. Does he think himself doing a public service by impugning the motives of Matty and David and others? Or, as speculated, is he really part of some international cabal of short-ists? Or is he the victim of something (in deference to my friend, Carl Jung) I call the "universal ungraciousness"? But, the plain fact is, he is rapidly becoming the Tonya Harding of this thread. More directly: move on, man. Take up heavy drinking. Or some other extreme sport. I'd be happy to send you a case of whiskey and the keys to a '73 Pinto if you're just determined to keep exposing yourself to well-earned condemnation. As hobbies go--and you've said you're not invested here, right?--surely stamp-collecting might be more interesting. Or dipping studio cushions in chicken fat. Or, is it that you are starved for attention? And take abuse as some proof your existence... ? Prozac drips. Look into it. Oh well... Best Regards To Those Whose Monies Are On The Line, c m
