I agree. And I believe I have already posted this information, but I just feel I need to relate it again. I'm work a position where I'm a member of a "team" that procures high technology systems for other buyers.
It is our job to insure that the product gets produced. We are supposed to work with the company from design through delivery.
Some of these companies are small businesses. In working with them, you have CEOs just like Joe. They are almost one man shows, because they cannot afford to hire enough people to do all that is required. So the "Joes" wind up wearing many hats. Even working closely with these people, the "paranoia" runs rampant. Some of my team think the CEO is a crook, some see a brilliant man struggling with a dream. If enough people on my "team" start talking "scam",
it can almost be a self fulfilling prophesy. For instance, I had one team member, instead of going to the CEO, and working a problem, thought it more "visible" to write letters to the CEOs other customers, and air his problems, thus trying to get him in "line". Such behavior almost
sunk the company, and the product. To make a point, some thought it was a scam, even though they worked hand in hand with the CEO and his people. They had gotten a preconceived idea, by not understanding the struggle the CEO was going through to make ends meet. We finally got everyone in line, supported the CEO, and we now have an excellent product delivered. Just thought I'd relay this.
These doubts come with the territory. I think Joe is one of these very
smart individuals, struggling to get his product off the ground. I think soon we will all see this.
