That is a fair comment - - it definitely is less true for a portfolio of stocks, such as the IXB, than an individual stock. I think your example is reasonable, but there will still be a good degree of uncertainty associated with such a solid break (I have been sucked in by too many false breakouts to think otherwise). We'll only know for sure with hindsight.
