Getting on the fast stack Stackable Fast Ethernet hubs are cheaper,
more flexible and easier to manage than ever before

IN THIS ROUNDUP, we look at six manageable and stackable 100-Mbps
hubs from market-leading networking vendors: the BayStack 202 100
Mb/s Ethernet Hub, Compaq Netelligent 3612 Managed Hub, HP
AdvanceStack 100Base-T Hub-12TXM, Intel Express 10/100 Stackable
Hub, SMC TigerStack 100 5312TX, and 3Com SuperStack II Hub 100-TX.
Each product we tested provides 12 100Base-TX ports and some type
of network management capability. All of the vendors except 3Com
also offer 24-port models for additional port capacity. Most let
you connect to existing 10-Mbps segments, and the Intel unit even
lets you mix 10-and 100-Mbps ports in the same stack.
