*OT* Zead, on netscape 3.xx, under options for Network Pref., there's a setting for "Verify Document" that can be set to "every time"

i dunno if there's something like that in IE, but there should be...

*OT* Zead, Go to the View menu then Internet Options, click on the settings button in the middle, then set it to check every time you visit the page.

niggerochi,

"I use IE 4.0, of course."

I downloaded and installed IE 4.0 some time ago. As soon as I restarted my machine my machine was trashed...thousands of cross-linked files, Windows Explorer corrupted and my modem was set to COM 5 (My Prodigy Classic software can't even see COM 5). Boy was I happy!!!!!!!

Rebooted to DOS and ran Norton disk doctor. When done I could at least run Windows. Then re-ran Norton disk doctor in Windows....more cross-linked files. At least I was able to copy important files to a jaz disk, so not everything was lost.

Then, I talked to Microsoft for about an hour. Of course they denied ANY culpability. They couldn't tell me how to re-set my modem back to COM 2 in THEIR Win 95 software. Beyond the COM 5 situation, other things were still so screwed up I eventually reformatted my hard drive and re-installed everything. Later on, while talking to a technical support engineer at Powerquest Corp., he said the EXACT same thing happened to him on his home machine. He lost everything! Don't you find it interesting that Microsoft never heard of this happening?

I can assure you I'll NEVER try to use any version of IE newer than 3.02 again! I learn slow, but I learn good.

Typing this using Netscape Communicator version 4.01a (final).
