Hi Nails,
I will try to answer you as best I can. We know that Jesus will never leave us or ever forsake us (Heb. 13:5-6). When you read the Bible and identify with the "bad" person is it because of past sin? If you have confessed those sins to Jesus and repented in your heart then you are forgiven of those sins, they are removed as far as the east is from the west, God remembers those sins no more (Jer. 31:34). But we do. Our unforgiveness towards ourselves can get in the way of a renewed relationship with God. We are commanded to forgive others. I also think that works for ourselves also. Once that sin is repented and forgiven walk in that forgiveness by faith. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9). When we feel our own unworthiness we can only be that much more grateful for what Jesus has done for us. If there is a trick used by the devil it is to constantly point to our unworthiness and use it against us. I think many of us go through that at one time or another, at least I have. Whenever you think of that unworthiness or particular sin(s) tell the devil "I am forgiven by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ". Romans 8:1-2 "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death." One of my favorite passages.

In Jesus,

Bob

RE: "When I read the Bible it's seems I find that when it talks of good and bad acts/people I seem to find myself thinking as myself as the bad person and not the good."

We are all sinners (i.e., "bad people"). Human nature is to be bad. Only God is truly good. But Jesus knows that we are bad, and still loves us and offers us forgiveness for being bad. Think about it - Jesus' purpose on earth was to pay for our sins. He loved and forgave the prostitutes, murderers, and the worst sinners around.

If you believe in and truly love Jesus and allow His love to work in your life, He will go to God the Father on judgement day and say: "Don't worry about Nails, I already took the punishment for his sins. Nails loves Me and this love makes him perfect in My eyes." God the Father will say, "Great! I want Nails to be with Me forever!"

Remember, the Bible says, "All have sinned ..." If someone tries to tell you that he is not a sinner, don't believe him.

RE: "Is this my imagination? a trick of the devil?"

It must be a trick of the devil. In fact, it is probably the most common trick that the devil uses. Many of my non-believer friends and acquaintances think that one must be good to get to heaven. They think Christians are just hypocrites who are acting good but are really sinners. Well, these people are certainly correct when they observe that the "church-goers" are sinners. After all, why would someone need Jesus' forgiveness if he's not a sinner?

RE: "Turned from God for several years, but taken my family to church for past few weeks."

I really haven't turned from God, but I'm trying to find a good church to attend. So far, I went to one church for the past two Sundays. I think I'll try another one next Sunday. I want to find a church where the pastor preaches on God's love and forgiveness from sins. How did you decide which church to go to? Are you going to try several churches to find one where God's presence is evident?

I want to find a church where I can tell that God is speaking to me and where I can praise and glorify Him without feeling weird.

Best wishes,

I2
