Westell xDSL Systems Deployed Worldwide Via GTE Government Services Contract

AURORA, IL (August 11, 1997) . Westell Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ: WSTL) today announced it has been selected by GTE Government Services to be the exclusive global supplier of Digital Subscriber Line (xDSL) communications systems through a Long Term Life Cycle Support (LTLCS) contract.....

Westell's High bit rate Digital Subscriber Line (HDSL) and ADSL systems are being deployed under the LTLCS contract at military bases around the world including such mission critical bases as Camp LeJeune Marine Corp Base, North Carolina; Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base in California; Quantico Marine Corp Communications Base, Quantico, Virginia; El Toro Marine Corp Base in Santa Anna, California; Ft. Stewart Army Base in Hinesville, Georgia; Ft. Huachuca Army Base in Sierra Vista, Arizona; The Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania; and Ft. Dix Army Base in New Jersey. Military installations in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Japan, Okinawa, Puerto Rico, and 28 Army locations in South Korea are initiating the utilization of Westell's FlexCap2 RADSL and HDSL systems .....

....Westell's T1 HDSL system provides full duplex 1.544 Mbps over two wire pairs. Repeaterless distances up to 12 KF over 24 gw facilities can be achieved. With the available mid span repeater, ranges up to 24 KF are possible....

... The Army has deployed Westell's HDSL and ADSL systems throughout the base a Ft. Huachuca to establish LAN extensions. They now have the capability to provide Internet access, video conferencing, and other services without costly alterations to their existing copper infrastructure....
