>>Well, read the "* S/A" note. It cleared showed that the average days a short position is covered was about 4.71 days (half of Jan.), which means almost all shorts in Feb were established in late Feb<<

Isn't S/A a measure of how long it would take to cover all the shorts?
If so, you'll notice that the shares short was flat between 1/98 and 2/98
but that the average daily volume doubled. Hence the S/A was halved.

It doesn't look like anyone has covered yet.

BTW, while I believe that SyQuest is performing better than it has
in years from a product point-of-view, the 150+ million shares outstanding
means that it will never reach $5 again in my mind...

MoonBrother, Please read the "* S/A" note again and you'll find that they included the formula for computing the number. (* S/A = Shares Short / Avg Daily Volume.) It has nothing to do with when short positions are established or covered.

BTW, Short interest has been relatively flat for the last 3 months, but increased 2-1/2 times during the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter after reaching a high of around $6 in October. It would appear that the majority of current shorts are in the $3 to $6 range (which is the approximate trading range for SYQT during last quarter).
