BlackStar, The cusip # is assigned by the SEC, but why would a change in the number force shorts to cover? Please explain... I thank you for your support, insight and information.

The folks over at the EUTO threads has bandied this about to the extreme. And one can understand why too. But as I understand it a cusip # change implies a share count audit (who has what and where) and that means that the illegal naked shorts has to cover. Any MM shorting against a block he actually has will be ok. Maybe it will amount to nothing but we may see a slight heave effect during the change. Ie we may see a slightly higher price or signs of share shortage just before and a subsequent fade just after.

This is how it was explained to me. I don't have any first hand experience (obviously) of this. I welcome any corrections.
