The reflection is not in water <<G>>, but in the magnetic anomalies. At least that's what I inferred from reading that paragraph:

To clarify: "reflections of kimberlite" refers indeed to kimberlite found in drill core. I guess that they are a 'reflection of the kimberlite that they saw in the geophysics'.
Not the clearest way of making the point, thats for sure.
