Hi Dom. I think the spending freeze is in anticipation of some belt tightening before the merger and the business of channel stuffing has already been refuted by several analysts including ML. They are smarter than I am so I believe they are probably correct but who knows? At any rate eps of $2.17 or $2.50 (Cowan) for 1999 means that the stock is trading at a low teens multiple x 1999 eps. Seems cheap to me and a slam dunk for patient investors but I have been wrong before.

Take care and check this out if you have a chance. OT

Dom. Thanks for your input on CPQ. I just told Stonehenge a little while ago that you are darned if you hold CPQ right this minute or you are darned if you don't.
As far as that stuff from SB is concerned, pl. read my 2 or 3 posts to billwot from early this morning. It has 2 links on it that will tell you quite a bit about this so-called channel stuffing. It seems more likely now that there is actually a shortage than stuffing. But yes, I am still a bit worried near term. But tomorrow could be an up day for CPQ. I will watch closely. Never mind looking for the posts, I put the links on.

Dom-thanks for the Vickers post re: CPQ. The strange thing is, no matter how much favorable news there is on CPQ, it languishes. Like Sonny, I'm watching closely, ready to jump back in.
