Even Better. Sounds like we are close to a bottom -g-.

By play I didn't mean trade. I meant if we are due for an upsurge in Agricultural prices then that in turn will increase demand for farms which in turn means more business for Farmer Mac. Since it already has good fundamentals to begin with that just makes it even better.

Don't have any more facts about El Nino's effects than were mentioned in the post, though there is anecdotal evidence to support it. Have also read an interesting book called "Meltdown" which advanced the thesis that many inflaionary periods in the past wre started off by rising commodity prices which in turn were due to climactic events.

Its several years since I read it so I don't remember details. I will try to dig it out and post if I see anything relevant
