Just further evidence that Disney has become a consumer brands company, albeit the one with the most valuable brands on earth.

Looks like Dreamworks is in trouble:

Are Dreamworks Backers Backing Out?

DREAMWORKS SCOOP.... On Monday
the New York Times ran a piece about
Dreamworks, the work-in-progress
mega-studio controlled by Steven Spielberg,
Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen. The
story said that the Korean investors in the
studio, the Lees, were going to put up the
remaining $100 million of the $300 million
commitment they made to Dreamworks. But
sources say, actually, that the Koreans have
said they will NOT put up the $100 million. So
the Dreamworks Three (like Tennessee?) has
gone back to Paul Allen and asked the
deep-pocketed one to increase HIS
commitment (already $330 million!) by another
$100 million! Allen is said to be considering
what to do. (A Dreamworks spokesperson,
however, denied the report and said the Lees
are paying the entire $300 million.) Wow! One
thing that NYT's story DID get right was that
it's time for Dreamworks to show if it's for real.
Or not!
