>>Michael, the SparQ cartridge appears to me to be real flimsy I think these guys are going to have big problems with them. <<

Big problems is an understatement. These guys are marketing this drive to, qouting unowho, "joe sixpack" while at the same time the cartridges require special care. These cartridges will not withstand everyday use, wear and tear and the punishment that comes from everyday use that SYQT managment is targeting the prodcut to. This thing will only compound as the further the prdocut is out in the life cycle.

Michael, good point about the massive problems considering only 100k have been sold. I was only trying to be fair becuase the COD problem was exagerated and made even worse by professional jounalists. So I was thinking maybe these guy's are doing the same thing.

Your rationale make sense though.

Jack,

I still have no IOM position, but I noticed at

206.7.107.50

that IOM Apr 10 Puts were the 49th most active option on Friday.

Further, from:

206.7.107.50

one can see that the volume was over twice the open interest.

It seems to me that this cannot be neutral, and is either bullish or bearish, but to determine which, one must know the change in open interest caused by the volume. So does anyone know the change in open interest on Friday for IOMPB?

Or am I all wet? Would an options guru please give his/her take on it?

Jack,, as per your request. My assessment is being validated by the numbers of problems that have been reported.

********************************************************************************
There was an issue with the drive and mother board that would not let the drive work with the secondary IDE interface.
Thus the reason that the customer couldn't get it running. It would
not register in the 1st or 2nd position of the 2nd IDE interface.
We had to take the CD drive off of the 1st IDE interface 2nd position and move it to the 2nd IDE interface in order to free up the 1st IDE interface for the SparQ. This can be a problem if your CD requires the 1st IDE interface ( some do ). Zip drives don't have this problem.

The disk had lot of play in it while inserting , seating of the cartridge was an iffy deal sometimes it would seat properly and sometimes it wouldn't. When it didn't seat properly then it wouldn't eject and I had to play around with it to get it out. A noticed effort had to be made that you apply downward pressure while inserting the disk.

The disks were a little scary to me in that the door was a band that was attached to a cylinder that as it opened would raise the platter higher inside the cartridge.
I could see more moving parts that have an opportunity to fail.

The pull down front door just gets in the way, to insert the disk you have to deal with it. I can foresee this breaking and unnecessary

I think the big problems with this product are seating of the disks and the platters themselves. A local competitor also expressed the same concerns.
He had installed 5 drives and returned 1 as failed. Our margins aren't that great, the one that he returned probably ate up the profit of the other 4 when you consider the troubleshooting labor.

Been thinking about this door, it just didn't seem to have a purpose .

Well if you take the door off you would have a big hole in the drive, the hole accommodates the seating of the disk, without it the drive would contaminate real easy. The Jaz disk tolerances are so tight that the disk itself acts as a seal to prevent contamination.
