TechInvestor, Glad you mentioned the financial aspects! Amazing how the $ drives, when "good enough" is facing "really great - but expensive".. With a bit of IBM time under the belt myself, I continued to be impressed with what Big Blue can achieve technically...and they were never afraid of spending the money. But in this case, I concur that they will have to push the transition to the exotic lithography methodologies out just a bit further.. And thanks for that tidbit on the origin of the strong phase shift masks..wasn't aware of it. Am pleased that we are more in concurrence than was first apparent about the significance of the UT achievement, and how broad was the effort. It was a UT-led team, but there was some pretty serious horsepower involved with representation from several of the heavy hitters in the semi field. Perhaps I am somewhat biased because DPMI has so much to gain from the achievement..and I was fortunate to get at least part of my stake around 26.. Could learn to like more moves as subsequently occurred! Thanks for some solid inputs, T12.. TSO
