I have a question about the warrants.
As has been mentioned before, exercising the warrants resets
the holding period. My question then is this: are there any
other tax consquences of exercising the warrant as there are for employee stock options (AMT type things)?
If the only issue
is resetting of the holding period, then I'll probably just
exercise.Thanks.

Xy. Pretty funny question. I doubt anyone would forget to convert but stranger things have happened. Someone could have a little stroke before they convert or worse!! Anyhow, I decided to convert last week for that reason. gg. And who do you think would benefit? Would the brokerage come out ahead if the warrants were not converted and were worthless? Who issued the warrants? Figure it out. gg. I think we are getting pretty much of the beaten path here. The question was: Will Intel stock benefit when there are no more warrants? What do you think?

I am sure that some small number of warrant will expire worthless, someone will be careless, or perhaps they passed away and the executor of their estate doesn't know what is in it or all of the relevant details (I am serious, this kind of thing does happen). But the number will be very small. Intel will benefit, they have already set aside the money and/or the stock to handle the conversion, and if no conversion is ultimately required, they will simply keep it, effectively reducing the EPS denominator.
