RE: Arlington, TX Channel Check.

I went to Outback for an early lunch today (they open at 3pm) and stopped by Fry's on the way home.

Lots of Zip, Zip Plus, Laptop Zip, Ditto 2GB, Ditto Max, Jaz, and Buz there. No Jaz2 or Ditto Max Pro, that I could find. Zip cartridges were $99/10 and $129/10 for color.

Also lots of SparQ, SyJet, and EZ230 there. I put my initials on the dust on one of the EZ230's. I'll see if it's still there next month. <G>

There were quite a few SparQ's in stock, but not many disks. But they sure were "moving" fast. When I got there, there were probably 50 singles (no 3 or 10 packs) on the shelf. When I left, there were only four on that shelf. I'm not sure I would want to buy a drive if there aren't cartridges available.

I asked the salesman about their return policy. I explained that I was interested in a SparQ, but was concerned that it would vibrate, not eject, fall apart, or make loud noises because I heard that those were the types of problems people were having. (Someone who was looking at a SparQ put it back about then.) The salesman said I can return the SparQ within 30 days for a credit, no questions asked. I think I'll buy one soon. I want to see how durable (or not) they really are.

They had a really small demo model of the SparQ. The cartridges were REALLY flimsy. I asked a different salesman about it, and he said that "everyone has said that" and that it's not a real cartridge (the one in the demo). Hmmpt.

Gotta Run!
