Don,

"1. Do you really believe that one a.k.a. Mr. Pink can, by himself, trash a stock on these internet threads? (I find it hard to believe but perhaps I don't have a grasp on the real exposure going on here)"

I don't know anything whatsoever about "Mr. Pink", other than that he posts frequently to the ACRT forum (and seemingly to no other forums on SI), and that he, like Queen Victoria, speaks of himself in the third person.

I don't think that Mr Pink "jawboned" ACRT down 20 or so points. This decline is undoubtedly largely the result of the massive increase in ACRT's short position between December and January, a position which appears to be "institutional-strength".

"2. What do you think of Individual Investor's selection of ACRT as one of the top 25 prospective gainers for 1998 given your statement that you would have sold out in mid 1997 or earlier?"

Obviously Institutional Investor and I disagree....and I don't know the logic behind their selection, so I can't really comment on it.

In your post #1920 you state that:

"Your source, Mr. Bob Davis did a quick dump and run. Responses to him, including mine, were posted quickly enough for him to receive before going off line. You know he was sticking around to see what his little post stirred up anyway."

The facts of the matter are that I made my initial post on this forum at 5:39 last night, posted the same message on misc.invest.stocks at 5:43, and on Motley Fool around 5:50, at which time I began preparing an "Update Issue" of The Napeague Letter which I began e-mailing out to subscribers around 7:40 (e-mailing completed at 8:34). By 9:15, when you were carping about my lack of response, I was eating dinner.

I posted to this forum solely as a courtesy, since I know from experience that TNL's subscribers often post "reprints" of my stuff to various forums, BBs and newsgroups. I will probably not revisit this particular forum until the middle of the coming week.
