Steven, << ORCL and earnings >>

I came from semiconductors, dsp mixed signal to be exact. Earnings
a full quarter out were usually very predictable. Software may differ,
as in semi's, we needed a 6 week lead time on orders to build and
meet deliveries. It's called JIT (just in time) and reduces being
stuck with inventory build up. We were a 1 billion year business in
a 10 billion company. TXN. Remember the book to bill in semi's. It
was dispensed with because wallstreet had too much forward looking vision with this number.
Rarely was there upside due to the required lead time. Downside
would occur if a customer cancelled orders, due to their own product
cancellations. Beating earnings was usually just good accounting. At
times we pulled in orders when possible and pushed them out if the
customer could handle the delay. MAKE THE NUMBERS!
I believe ORCL has a pretty darn good understanding of their
quarterly position. It's the leaks that kill. T.I. was always very
good at playing it straight. Got no idea about ORCL. Never worked
in that segment, and am new to the stock. I don't believe in this
'don't know until last minute stuff'. Also my FIL is CEO of one of the
largest private masonry construction businesses in the U.S. He always
knows where he's at,good or bad. Weather is his killer. What's ORCL's?
