The problem is that they screwed up and did not include the boot floppy

Make your own from the images on the CD. Just do a low-level copy (dd in unix, not sure in Win.), and not a regular copy.

You could also download a boot image (any will do, as you can recompile everything later) from the net.

Don't know why I bothered about that dd bit, I'm sure you already know that. Sorry.
