>>> Another issue with Unreal is whether GT will receive any income from games that will be based on the Unreal engine. Wheel Of Time, Unreal with a medieval motif, will definitly be based on the Unreal engine. ION Storms says Daiktana 2 will be based on the Unreal engine as well. Since GT is funding the engine development, shouldn't they receive income from games based on the Unreal engine? I'd like so the contracts on that. Also want to find out if GT will get distribution rights to Wheel of Time, which should be announced shortly. My bets are on G.O.D. getting W.O.T. <<<

Let me be of help here. :)

[1] GTIS, or any publisher, typically, does not get a portion of engine licensing fees and royalties. For example, nor Activision or GTIS gets a penny from id's licensing of the Quake and Quake 2 engine. However, GT's Unreal deal with Epic *did* include the right to license the Unreal engine at least five times (and I think maybe more), but Epic still makes a fee from these licenses and GT does not--it's just that GT has some control over who they can license the Unreal engine to, with Epic's approval being required. I don't think the Wheel of Time license is part of GT's group, though.

[2] WofT cannot be a Gathering of Developers game. It's already signed with Legend Entertainment--this is old news, so don't place that bet. :)
