It's OK, I knew you were Canajun from Eh to Zed. Some wild Colonial boy should hack that SI spell checker and teach it the King's English, and a few bars of Elgar, as well, eh
No, Americans are not all bad, after all they produced both SI and Cheers. And it's a good thing we ship some mental pablum south, I mean God forbid they run out. As far as their president's problems with his zipper go, this is no big deal imho, it is considered in my (other) country to be a characteristic trait of a born leader, a man powerful enough to rule a country or get service in a French restaurant.

But you bring up the war (against Basil Fawlty's advice)- they think it started at Pearl Harbour late in '41. One of my neighbours here had been overseas two years at that point, and had used up several aeroplanes flying about in heavy lead storms. My friend's father had spent considerable time trudging about North Africa, alternately behind and in front of Rommel. Then imagine the delight of the Kiwis hearing while face to face with the Japanese in 42-43 that the Yanks were training in New Zealand just down the road from their girlfriends - "Over-paid, over-sexed, and over here". No - Fawlty was right - whatever you do, don't bring up the war.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not prejudiced. None of us choose our parents or our mother country. Some of us are lucky, and some of us are Americans - that's just the way it goes, no essential reflection on the value of the individual, and it is incumbent on us to treat the less fortunate with kindness and charity. Some of my best friends are American, and we always invite one to every party. Of course you have to draw the line somewhere - I would not want my sister to marry one.

Re la Revoluci¢n (that's how it's spelled) - nobody's all that interested so far in seeing insider trading posted in a usable form, it's just not a priority, even for myself. Busy, busy, real life intrudes. No songs sung by fruits, no flags waved. I do have an inquiry in, though, to Bofors, as to whether they will take Mastercard on a purchase of a 155 mm Mark XVII magnum long-barrel, with which I should be able to reach Howe Street from just behind the barn. We shall overcome. Some day.
