Given SHVA's stock price movement of late, I'm guessing that the new NT/SHVA pact known to a good many "connected" people before today.

Glenn,

Lucent and Ascend are a great combination. Lucent has
an excellent working relationship with Ascend. There
is a high probability that these companies will merge.
The technical staff at Ascend is unbeatable. They have
some of the best engineers in the business. Lucent should
buy ASND as soon as possible. This stock is probably going
to go a lot higher.
