Post says Marquest turned bearish before bad results posted Newbridge Networks Corporation NNC Shares issued 173,670,862 Feb 27 close $33.35 Mon 2 Mar 98 In the News Buy & Sell columnist Sonita Horvitch says in the Saturday edition of the Financial Post that Newbridge Networks is a top sell pick of growth manager Gerry Brockelsby, a partner of Toronto-based Marquest Investment Counsel. Ms Horvitch notes the stock, currently $30.90, has a 52-week range of $95 to $26.75. Mr Brockelsby sold his holdings of the technology giant early this year, before its recent earnings disappointment. Overall, Mr Brockelsby is focusing on medium-cap Canadian growth companies in high growth industry niches. He says the medium and smaller cap growth companies have been overshadowed by the big caps for the past three years. Strong economic growth has resulted in expanding profit margins and earnings in the big-cap companies. This, together with declining interest rates, have been the main catalyst for the healthy performance.
