"But how many hundreds or even thousands of employees know what's going on? They can tell if deals are closing, how much pressure is on them just before end of quarter, how the sales reps are doing, general trends, etc. You think that doesn't leak out? People tell/give hints to wives, friends, other employees, maybe a personal financial planner who knows people in NY, and then it's all over town."

Sounds like you think everyone knows except the 2 top execs?

Don't care for (un)founded rumors, but it gives us a great opportunity
to sell puts with great premium and buy calls at real cheap price.

Thanks to all those (un)founded stories. Personally I don't believe
a bit, but being right has nothing to do with investment.

Happy trading to all!

Steven, << deals in the last week of a qtr >>

I guess that's the difference with software. Last week deals don't
generate income within the active qtr for either semi's or construction. Some up front design money may fold in, but not
significant enough to impact current quarter earnings. Never been a
CEO or even close, but I knew department numbers pretty darn close
and pretty far reaching. Anyway, no need to dispute. ORCL's a long
term play for me. Still like seeing good qtrs every quarter. As an
employee I at least had some earnings control. With stocks it's crossed fingers. :-)
