Sorry Mark. I disagree with you.

Many customers were asking IFMX to run on SMP nodes on SP2s for some OLTP apps and didn't want to load ODS if they already had XPS.

SMP clusters can handle very large amounts of data. One reason MPP has tailed off is the ability to run over 1 TB of info on a cluster. CHeck out Sequent and HP for their large sites running data warehouses. I am well aware of the architecture issues.

OLTP plans overall for 8.2 were modified significantly and were pushed out.

Customers do indeed run mixed environments. The more sophisticated shops that have the environments separate are not the norm. Like the SP2 example, customers try to partition their systems (oh nuts, we go back to MVS days). IFMX even touts this.

As for comparision with Sybase. I didn't make any. XPS is still the class of it's league.
