It looks like the Zip is an option on the mini tower versions only. The OptiPlex is geared towards network users. The Dimension Line already had Zip as an option.

The following is from the Dell web site.

"The OptiPlex line was designed for multi-user, networked environments that require strong
product stability, an optimized and efficient network, and a highly serviceable design.
(OptiPlex products are designed to help lower your total cost of ownership by streamlining
software distribution and driver updates through administrator-level remote management
tools.)

So, whether you're running complex database applications over the network or critical
customer service applications, OptiPlex Managed PCs give you dependable industry-standard
technology. We perform extensive reliability and compatibility tests to ensure smooth
interoperability with industry-standard software and hardware. And because we strive to build
our systems to be forward compatible to accommodate evolving technologies, your system is
less likely to become obsolete as new standards emerge.

1.Planned transitions and long product lifecycles
2.Optimized for easy remote manageability over networks
3.Utilizes industry-standard components and stable technology for dependability
4.Maximized compatibility across product generations
5.Reliable, highly serviceable design

The Dell Dimension line, on the other hand, is ideal for workgroups or individuals who
demand fast performance and up-to-the-minute technology at aggressive prices without the
need for manageability."
