The court decision didn't have anything to do with the reliability testing. It was a procedural issue, as I believe Iomega mentioned in their press release.

Nomai kept changing their disks, so the disk that Iomega originally tested wasn't the one that Nomai brought to market. Iomega's testing of the new disks was still incomplete. They had partial test results when the case was heard, but the judge wouldn't accept them. The partial test results showed that the new disk performed as badly as the original Nomai disk.

I sure hope IOM's attorney's drive this point home as they appeal the judge's ruling.
