On page 7 of the document I referred to earlier is a drawing that shows a single Fabric FL_Port, with four NL_Port devices attached to a loop. Three of them are Public Loop NL_Ports and one is a Private Loop NL_Port. The example they use is an NFS Server (Public Loop), which communicates with NFS clients through the fabric using IP, and with SCSI targets (Private or Public Loop) targets on the same loop using SCSI-3 FCP.

I printed out the FC-AL, FC-AL2, and the Private Loop (FC-PLDA) documents, so I should have plenty to do for the next few days. <g>
