17:49 America Online CEO Registers 500,000 Common Shares

ISSUER: AMERICA ONLINE INC.
SYMBOL: AOL

WASHINGTON (FFBN) -- America Online Inc. chief executive
officer Stephen Case has registered to sell 500,000 shares of common
stock, according to a Form 144 recently released by the Securities and
Exchange Commission.

A Form 144 is filed to register an intention to sell restricted
stock. The filing of a Form 144 opens the door for an individual to
sell the shares but does not definitively indicate that an actual sale
of the shares will occur or has occurred.

The registration papers indicate that Case intended to sell
the shares on the New York Stock Exchange on Feb. 25, 1998. BT Alex.
Brown was listed as the broker for the sale.

The company announced 1998 fiscal second quarter net income of
17 cents per share on Feb. 10, 1998 compared with 1997 fiscal second
quarter net loss of $1.37/share.

America Online shares closed today at 117 3/4, down 3 3/8.

America Online is a leader in branded interactive services and
content.
