Definitely target my next upgrade for 100mhz bus, or faster.

Every time I swear I'm going to SCSI, I can't resist another
IDE drive, though. Just got a Maxtor 8.4 g for $305 (after
$30 rebate), 9.5 ms avg access. It's just hard to ante up
for SCSI, despite the advantages. Of course this is the
last controller slot ... <g>. Also I'm out of internal
bays. :(

But tough beans, I'll force it in because this is for
all my stock charts<gg>.

BTW, the PC Power & Cooling mid tower is essentially the
same configuration as my ATX midtower case, but it has
an internal bay add-on (I read on the web site). From
what I can make out it looks like it hangs below the other
internal bays in the otherwise empty lower front area,
though they don't seem to have a picture.

Anybody have any further info on this? I wonder if they'll
sell it separately, or if there's any such equivalent thing
out there somewhere else.

BX chipset...100MHz bus...(350/100)...benefits

The main benefit will be the increased speed to access memory (50% faster bus to memory). This will allow memory-intensive apps to perform better, and if you use an AGP video card, it will be able to perform better at 2x mode.<<<

The above is a response to the following question

Gregory,

Due to project deadlines, waiting until mid-april is not out of the
question, but will present some problems. Because 384/512 memory is
OK for my needs, do you think I would get other significant benefits
from the BX chipset. I've seen this chipset mentioned, but do not
really understand its benefits for a server application, other than
the increased memory. Although I would prefer an Intel MB, I noticed
an ASUS, P2L97-DS that seems to have all the features I'm looking for
(Dual slots, 512KB cache, 512meg SDRAM, on-board SCSI, ATX form factor. I believe the Supercom P6DLS has the same feature set.<<<
